Originally from Banjulinding, The Gambia, I moved to Italy in 2019 to pursue a master’s degree in Economics and Finance at the University of Naples, Federico II. Motivated by the rise in crime, inefficiencies in law enforcement, and declining public confidence in law enforcement in my home country, I developed a strong interest in the fields of monitoring and surveillance, public policy, and how these tools can be optimized for crime reduction both locally and globally.
This led me to pursue a PhD program at the Free University of Bolzano, where I am honing empirical methods for evaluating how public policy can improve law enforcement efficiency without compromising individual privacy. In the next phase of my career, I intend to continue developing my research skills, focus on policy-relevant research that balances crime prevention with privacy protection, and ultimately tackle new challenges in transnational organized crime.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing football (soccer) with friends on weekends. I’m always open to new experiences, cultures, and perspectives.
